Birder's World Photo of the Week - A new photo is chosen every Monday, and every other month a professional bird photographer picks the best Photo of the Week over the previous two months. The winner receives a free one-year subscription to the magazine, plus the photo will be published in the magazine.

BetterPhoto.com - Open only to BetterPhoto students and BetterPholio subscribers. Categories include Nature & Landscapes, Animals & Wildlife, People, Elements of Design, Digital Darkroom, Travel & Place, Flowers, Details & Macro. There is also a Catch-All and Monthly Theme; the theme for April is "Passion." Grand Prize: Deluxe BetterPholio Website; First Place winners receive a Tamrac Sling Pac. Deadline: May 31, 2009.

PamperedPuppy.com - Send in pictures of your pampered pooch! Ten prizes to be awarded. Open to adults over the age of 18 in Canada and USA (excluding Hawaii and Alaska). Ten prizes to be awarded. Deadline: May 30, 2009.

picture.com - The International Library of Photography holds continuous contests, about one every month. Entries are accepted on an ongoing basis. The annual Grand Prize is $10,000.00. The Grand Prize for each individual contest is $1,000.00. Other prizes as well.

Quantum Leap Strategies - Selects one winning photograph each month that captures the essence of the "Beauty that Surrounds Us." Winning photographer receives $250, plus a donation of $250 is made in the winner's name to the winner's choice of a charity organization that focuses on helping the blind. Submit one photo per week, with a week beginning on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of the month and ending, respectively, at midnight on the 7th, 14th, 21st or the last day of the given month.

Soaphoto.com - Amateur digital photo contest with four winners chosen each month. Prizes include Samsung cameras.

Apogee Photo Contest - The current photo contest theme is "Tracks." Grand Prize is an online photography class; other prizes include an iPod Nano 2GB, Power Retouche Photoshop plugins, and The Shuttermom Gold Package. Ranger Rick Photo Contest - Nature photo contest open to kids 13 and under, with parent or guardian written permission. Winner will be featured in the "Ranger Rick" magazine and website, receive a Certificate of Recognition, and receive 5 complimentary issues of the magazine featuring the winning photograph. Winners are selected every three months. Remaining Deadlines: July 31; October 31.

Annual

2009 Fire Management Today Annual Photo Contest - Submit your best fire-related photos to be judged in the annual competition. Winners in each category receive awards, including a framed photo of the winning entry. Also, winning photos will appear in a future issue of Fire Management Today. Categories: Wildland Fire; Aerial Resources; Prescribed Fire; Ground Resources; Wildland-Urban Interface Fire; Miscellaneous. Deadline: Oct. 2, 2009.

Lake Superior Magazine 15th Annual Amateur Photo Contest - A contest for photos of Lake Superior. Categories: Nature; Lake/Landscapes; People/Humor. Deadline: Oct. 19, 2009.

2009 National Wildlife Federation Photo Contest - Open to all photographers 13 years old and older, worldwide. There are 3 divisions and 7 categories. Cash prizes totaling $25,000 plus other prizes will be awarded.

2009 Shaker Workshop Photography Contest - Open to all photographers, amateur or professional. Purpose: To illustrate the best aspects of Shaker design and to demonstrate the successful use of Shaker furniture and accessories in everyday life. Categories are Interior Shots and Exterior Shots. First Place winner receives a $100 Shaker Workshops Gift Certificate, plus winning photo will appear on the Shaker Workshops catalog. Deadline: June 15, 2009.

Tamron Make Your Mark Photo Contest - Theme is "Americana - Photographs that Define American Culture." Prize: Tamron AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 VC Di Aspherical (IF) Macro zoom lens in Canon or Nikon mount; winning image showcased in Tamron's Viewfinder magazine, and publication on Tamron's Photo Gallery website. Open to professional and amateur photographers using Tamron brand products. Deadline: Oct. 31, 2009.

WildBird 21st Annual Photo Contest - Categories are Amateur; Backyard; Digiscoping; Flight; and Water Birds. Grand prize is a Canon EOS 500 digital SLR. Prizes are also awarded to the winners in each category. Winning images will be published i the Sept/Oct 2009 issue. Deadline: May 15, 2009.

2009 World Press Photo Contest - Open to all professional press photographers. Entry forms released each October; judging takes place in the beginning of February each year.
