Kodak's Picture of the Day - Submit a picture you're proud of, along with its story, for a chance to have it featured as Kodak's Picture of the Day on Kodak's website.

Weekly

Birder's World Photo of the Week - A new photo is chosen every Monday, and every other month a professional bird photographer picks the best Photo of the Week over the previous two months. The winner receives a free one-year subscription to the magazine, plus the photo will be published in the magazine.

Monthly

BetterPhoto.com - Open only to BetterPhoto students and BetterPholio subscribers. Categories include Nature & Landscapes, Animals & Wildlife, People, Elements of Design, Digital Darkroom, Travel & Place, Flowers, Details & Macro. There is also a Catch-All and Monthly Theme; July's theme is "Center." All first-place winners will receive a $25 B&H Gift Card. Grand Prize is a Deluxe BetterPholio™ website. Deadline: Aug. 31, 2010.

MyParkPhotos.com - A members'-only photo contest for pictures taken in public parks, refuges, preserves, forests, and trails. Various categories. A winning photograph is selected each month from among all photographs registered by members from the first to the last day of the previous month.

National Wildlife Federation Caption Contest - Entries judged on the basis of wit, creativity, humor, and originality. Winning entry receives a book from the National Wildlife Federation.

PamperedPuppy.com - Send in pictures of your pampered pooch! Fifteen prizes to be awarded. Open to adults over the age of 18 in Canada and USA (excluding Hawaii and Alaska). Deadline: No contests for July; none announced for August.

Soaphoto.com - Amateur digital photo contest with four winners chosen each month. Contest is free to enter, but photographers must register. Categories are People; Animals; Nature/Landscapes; and Objects/Details/ Macro/ Four winners chosen each month (one per category). Prizes are digital cameras..

Quarterly

Tamron Photography Contest No. 2 - The subject for this photo contest is "Summer Rituals." The Grand Prize winner will have his or her choice of one of several Tamron lenses. A selection of 20 finalists will appear on the Tamron website. Deadline: Sept. 30, 2010.

Annual

Adirondack Life 2011 Photo Contest - Not open to professional photographers. All photos must be taken in the Adirondack Park. Each entrant may submit up to 5 photographs total in categories such as Recreation, Landscape, Wildlife, Macro, Alternative Process and Black and White. Other creative categories are encouraged. Grand prize is a coupon redeemable for the full registration cost of any Adirondack Photography Institute workshop in 2011. No entry fee. Deadline: Dec. 1, 2010.

6th Annual Cowboys & Indians Photo Contest - Five categories: Portrait, Landscape, Wildlife, Action, Equine. One winner will be selected for each category. The winning entry and runners-up will be published in the Cowboys & Indians 2011 Photo Essay issue. The 2011 Photo Contest winner will receive $1,000. The winners of each of the five categories will receive $500. Deadline: Oct. 14, 2010.

Equine Ideal: Winter 2010 Photography Contest - Separate divisions for amateurs and professionals. Categories: Performance, Horses Human Bond, Head Study, The Horse at Liberty, Extreme Action, Black& White, Artistic, and Details. Entries will open for upload on November 1, 2010. Sponsored by the Equine Photographers Network; membership not required to enter the photo contest.. Deadline: Feb. 1, 2011.

Maryland Natural Resource 2010 Photo Contest - Sponsored by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Maryland Park Service, and Maryland Public Television, this contest is open to amateurs, pros, and students. Categories are Birds, Wildlife, Insects, Scenic, Flora, and Outdoor Recreation. Contest winners receive prizes and have their photos published in the Maryland Natural Resource 2010 Winter issue as well as the 2011 Maryland Natural Resource Calendar. Deadline: Aug. 31, 2010.

2011 Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest - Contest categories are Youth; State Parks; Birds; Mammals; Reptiles and Amphibians; Other Native Wildlife; Scenic/Pictorial; Nature-Based Activities; Wild Flora. Winners will be published in the February 2011 issue. Oct. 30, 2010.

Ponds Magazine 2010-2010 Photo Contest - If you're a water gardening enthusiast, you can turn your interest into a chance to win either a First Place or Second Place prize from contest sponsor Laguna Water Gardening. Category: Pond Makeover or Water Garden Geometry. Deadline: Sept. 30, 2010.

2011 Shaker Workshop Photography Contest - Open to all photographers, amateur or professional. Purpose: To illustrate the best aspects of Shaker design and to demonstrate the successful use of Shaker furniture and accessories in everyday life. Categories are Interior Shots and Exterior Shots. First Place winner receives a $100 Shaker Workshops Gift Certificate, plus winning photo will appear on the Shaker Workshops catalog. Deadline: June 15, 2011.

8th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest - There are five categories: Altered Images, Americana, The Natural World, People, and Travel. There will be fifty finalists selected, ten in each of the five categories. Category winners will be awarded $500. The readers’ choice winner will be awarded $500. The grand prize winner will receive a Smithsonian Journeys Grand Canyon Weekend Adventure for two (or the wholesale cash equivalent), and winning entries will be published in Smithsonian magazine during the summer of 2011. Deadline: Dec. 1, 2010.

2011 Sony World Photography Awards - The Open Competition welcomes all ages and levels of expertise. Prize includes $5,000 and a trip to next Sony World Photography Awards ceremony and World Photography Festival in London. For the Professional Competition, submissions must be based on a body of work and contain a minimum of 3 images and a maximum of 10 images. Prize includes $25,000. Deadline: Jan. 5, 2011

2010 World Press Photo Contest - Open to all professional press photographers. Entry forms released each October; judging takes place in the beginning of February each year.
